Crate Training Tips
For most pet owners, crate training is an useful thing for puppies to know. When crate training, keep in mind that puppies will have an adjustment period and having a puppy cry at night for the first new nights is totally normal. While puppies are with us, we do rotate puppies through a crate individually so that they have some experience with being in a crate by themselves before they leave us. Some tips for crate training are –
1. Put the crate in an area of the house that will be the least likely to disturb the rest of the household until the puppy has adjusted.
2. Cover the crate with a blanket to help them get into a normal sleep pattern.
3. Be sure to finish giving food and water around 5 to 6 pm each night to give the puppy time to empty out before they are in their crate for the night.
Consistency is key when you are crate training! Be sure to let the puppy out around the same time each morning so they can get in a routine.
